Psalms

The Lost Sheep.

Of Ephraim.

I am the lost sheep.

The black amongst the white,

The one out of the ninety-nine,

The prodigal son.

Unworthy yet welcomed.

Once a sinner but now a saint.

Lost yet now found.

My own feet led me to the brink of despair

But His hand led me to pastures green.

It is His outstretched hand

That saved me from the Pit of Hades.

It is His rod of sustenance,

That is my reminder of His mercy for me.

He has taken me thus far,

And promises me further beyond the horizon.

Though the trail may be rough,

Though the path may be tough;

Take His hand, child

And clasp onto it.

His hand will be your shelter,

He will guide you every step of the Way –

Through the waters

And the coals of fire –

He is the Way to the land of milk and honey.

Give Me Faith.

A Song.

A Contemplation of Ephraim.

Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.

Father, I still feel the scars of Egypt,
Yet I have seen the milk of the Promised Land.
Father, I stumble in the wastelands of Hades,
Let your arm lead me through the plots of my enemies.
Father, when my spirit is nether,
In Your plan I will trust.

Selah

Father, do I hear You correctly?
Are my eyes clouded by the sandstorm?
Are we close to the honey?
Speak to me O God!
Let me know Your voice
And do not forsake Your servant.
Teach me Your ways
And fill my finite mind with Your infinite wisdom.

Lord if needs be,
Strip me to the very last branch.
Teach me in this season
To love in a new way
To bear new fruit.

For my faith stands like the trunk of a mustard tree
Firm in its roots and far outgrowing the seed,
Yet my leaves blow with the east wind,
Some hesitant and some withstanding;
Doubting yet expectant,
Believing yet not seeing,
Tasting yet not savouring.

E.K.

In Hebrew, Egypt means anguish/bondage. Your past. But God has taken you beyond that. He is the light at the end of your tunnel. The milk and honey of the Promised Land. The end of your situation. The fulfilment of the promise.

Stone Wall.

A song of forgiveness.

Psalm 151.

Of Ephraim.

After sinning against God, I felt like my prayers were hitting a stone wall. Lost on what to do, I was led to write down my thoughts. Amazingly, they began to take the form of a song (I had never written a song before). How beautiful and loving is God? He used my pitfall to be the start of something new in me. So here is Psalm 151 – a play on the last psalm of the Bible being number 150. I pray it speaks to your heart and soul.

Cleanse Me O God

From the very inside out.

Hear my voice Lord

As my heart longs to hear you.

Hear my pardon Lord

When I’ve turned away from you

When I’ve denied you,

Forgotten you,

And disappointed you.

But now I only want your will

I only need your power,

I only need your strength.

For in my iniquities You are strong

And in my weakness, You are mighty.

You have heard my cry

And You have seen my heart.

For Your Spirit heals

And Your Hand reassures.

You comfort

And you protect.

For only You forgive

And only You are just.

E.K.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
